Geography
Geography is the study of people and places around the world. Geographers ask questions like Where is it? What is it like there? How is it connected to other places?
Fourth graders need to know about the United States. Each state is part of a unique region based on climate, natural resources and economics. Each region has waterways and landscapes that attract people for a variety of reasons.
The United States is part of a global community that will be explored more each year. Having global awareness and a natural curiosity about how we are connected to other places in the world will better prepare you for the future.

The Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl was a natural disaster that hit the Midwest in the 1930's. 3 factors caused this disaster: drought, poor farming techniques, and lack of understanding of the environment. History taught us how to hopefully avoid another disaster like this, but current drought conditions in the Great Plains are bringing eerie reminders of what once happened.
